Want to buy a domestic solar hot water system? |
Even with all the frequent and long-lasting
power outages, there is no reason why one should sit in a dark house
and have a cold shower. Solar technology offers a wide range of
solutions to the inconveniences of the recent and future years.
Before selecting your country of residence
and proceeding to the lists and tables please read the following
important questions: |
 |
Do you have running water with good pressure in or near your house?
Solar hot water systems can be quite costly and, therefore, you would like to
make use of it all the time and not only when water is available. |
|
 |
Is the section of the roof where you would like the solar heater to be
installed facing North?
In this part of the world, for the system to give best results the collectors
have to face North. Solar hot water systems can be installed on
almost any type of roof facing any direction - but at a very high
cost. |
|
 |
Is the roof structure in a sound condition to support up to several
hundred of kilograms?
Standards for installation of solar water heaters require the unit to be
supported by one or more load-bearing walls depending on whether the
system is to be mounted in a roof space or above a roof. |
|
 |
Is the space in front of the roof free of tall trees or structures?
Collector should be located so as to be clear of shade for 3 hours either side
of solar noon at any time during the year (i.e. nominally 9 a.m. to
3 p.m. standard time). However, partial shading by small objects,
such as chimneys, flues and TV antennae, is permissible during this
period. |
|
 |
Do you have at least USD 1,000 - or the equivalent in your local
currency - to pay for material, transport and labour?
Solar hot water systems require a higher forward payment than electric geysers
but they pay themselves back. |
